Gaming Leaders Converge in Thailand for High-Stakes Dialogue at SPiCE Southeast Asia 2025

The SPiCE Southeast Asia event held at The Landmark Bangkok brought together online and land-based gaming leaders, integrated resort operators, legal experts, and industry consultants, fostering dynamic discussions on innovation, regulation, and sustainable growth in Southeast Asia’s gaming and entertainment complexes (integrated resorts) sectors. 


A Visionary Opening: Leading with Purpose by Mary Mendoza 文美玲 Mendoza, Managing Director of The Platinum Ltd, delivered the opening address and keynote speech, setting the tone for the conference with her powerful message: “Lead with Vision and build with purpose.” She emphasized that no single strategy fits all markets highlighting the importance of economic impact, job creation, social benefits, and cross-sector collaboration in shaping the industry’s future. Her insights underscored the need for tailored approaches that align with regional regulations and cultural contexts, while collaborating with government and respecting their culture, traditions, and process for a sustainable future.

Attendees, including executives, investors, and policymakers, engaged in meaningful dialogue, reinforcing SPiCE’s reputation as a premier platform for industry networking and knowledge exchange.

Day 2: Innovation, Regulation, and Responsible Growth


The second day featured high-level discussions on market expansion, regulatory evolution, and technology-driven opportunities. Mary Mendoza returned to the stage, exploring how integrated gaming complexes can boost tourism and economic growth in Southeast Asia. 


A panel,“Economic Impact of Gaming Legalisation: What’s Next for the Region?” moderated by Bolormaa Ganbold BSc, MSc (Murray International), featured insights from Jared Valarao (Practical Finance Solutions), Priya Ahlawat (Jumping Play Studio), Shaun McCamley (Euro Pacific Asia Consulting), and Worawit Nitiborrirak, ACIArb (MLR Legal, Thailand). Worawit emphasized that gaming legalization is not just about casinos but about building a new economic pillar for nations. 


Later, Navneeth Srinivas (MetaMine Gaming) led a crucial discussion on “Unlocking Smart, Compliant Marketing in Southeast Asia’s Gaming Landscape: Strategy, Trust and Growth” with speakers alongside, Mary Mendoza, Katerina S. Shepetenko (Ligal Pilot), John calderon🇵🇭 ※and Sb Rathore (Promotion Bazaar).


Enhancing responsible gaming, moderator Navneeth Srinivas (MetaMine Gaming) led a panel with Calvin Lim (EMB), Riaan Van Rooyen (Aria Group International), and Jean Rose Buenaventura, CPA (Jade Entertainment), discussing regulator-operator collaboration for sustainable industry growth.


The day concluded with a diversity and inclusion panel led by Christina Thakor-Rankin, featuring Bolormaa Ganbold, Danny Too (Booming Games), Priya Ahlawat, and Ripul Mantrao (Jumping Play Studio), and Mary Mendoza (The Platinum Ltd).

Day 3: Risk, Opportunity, and the Path Forward


The final day opened with Shaun McCamley’s analysis of Vietnam’s gaming reforms, followed by a critical discussion on illegal gaming, moderated by David Leppo (Checkmate Mitigation) and featuring Brycan Dayao (Amused Group), David Carruthers, Akkaraporn Muangsobha (Rajah & Tann Thailand), and Harmen Brenninkmeijer (NYCE International).


The conference wrapped with a risk management panel moderated by Evan S. Spytma (C+), where Mary Mendoza joined by Danny Too, Romario Nugraha (Pacific Sea BPO), Niall Murray BSc.Mgmt., SPHR, CMC, PMP, CEG (Murray International), and David Leppo to outline key success factors and emerging risks in Southeast Asia’s gaming landscape. 


A Lasting Impact Jared Valarao captured the event’s essence: “Innovation through community-powered, tech-enabled ecosystems is the future. Sustainability isn’t just compliance—it’s a revenue driver.”


As Christina Thakor-Rankin closed the conference, she urged the industry to sustain the momentum, reinforcing Southeast Asia’s rise as a global gaming hub.
