The 11th Macau European Chamber of Commerce (MECC) Gala Dinner, held on May 16, 2025, gathered distinguished business leaders, government officials, and diplomats to discuss Macau’s role in East-West collaboration and celebrate the EuroExcellence Awards winners. Hosted by MECC President Rui Pedro Cunha 官澤中, the event welcomed key figures, including Mr. Tai Kin Ip, Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau SAR Government; and Dr. Ambrose So, one of MECC’s Honorary Chairmen.
Also in attendance were Consul General Gerhard Zettl and Trade Commissioner Jennifer Veigel of the Austrian Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macau, along with Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCILC) President Carlos Cid Alvares, France Macau Chamber of Commerce (FMCC) Chairman Rutger Verschuren, and Mary Mendoza of Platinum Strategic Consulting Group.
Portuguese Consul General Alexandre Leitão emphasized ocean sustainability, stating, “No climate action without blue action.” As the EU remains Macau’s second-largest trade partner (27%), discussions reinforced priorities for economic cooperation. Special recognition was given to Gala Committee President Filipe Santos and his team for organizing a successful event.
